Consultations and examinations in orthopaedics at Levitas Medical Center in Sofia.
When should you consult an orthopedic specialist?
A consultation is recommended if you experience:
- Joint pain, bone pain, or spinal pain
- Swelling, redness, or limited mobility
- Injuries, fractures, dislocations, sprains
- Clicking or popping sounds in the joints
- Chronic knee, hip, or shoulder pain
- Deformities or scoliosis
- Sports or occupational injuries
- Suspected osteoporosis or degenerative joint conditions
How to prepare for an orthopedic appointment?
To ensure the most effective visit:
- Bring previous imaging results, X-ray, MRI, CT, and laboratory tests
- Describe your symptoms in detail, onset, pattern, aggravating and relieving factors
- Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow easy movement and access to the affected area
- Prepare a list of current medications and supplements
- Write down questions about diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation options
What happens during the appointment?
The consultation begins with a conversation and detailed medical history (anamnesis) about symptoms, previous injuries, or illnesses.
This is followed by a physical examination including:
- Inspection and palpation of the affected area
- Assessment of range of motion, joint stability, and muscle strength
- Functional tests for gait and posture if needed
The orthopedic specialist may recommend additional diagnostic tests such as X-ray, MRI, CT, or ultrasound.
Based on the results, a personalized treatment plan is developed, which may include medication, physiotherapy, orthopedic devices, or surgical intervention.
